Abino Vazquez - Varsity Head Coach
Coach Vazquez brings more than 20 years of baseball experience as both player and coach. He began his playing career at Roosevelt High School where he earned First Team All-stat honors and was selected in the MLB Draft out of high school, choosing instead to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level. He went on to play two seasons at Chemeketa Community College, where he helped lead the program to a NWAC Baseball Championship title. He then transferred to Oregon State University and player under legendary head coach Pat Casey, continuing to compete at a high level in one of the nations premier college baseball programs. Following his playing career, Coach Vazquez transitioned into coaching and player development. He has spent over two decades coaching both travel baseball and at the high school level, helping develop young athletes and guiding them through the fundamentals of the game while emphasizing character, accountability, and strong work ethic. He is passionate about mentoring players and preparing them for success both on the field in life, focusing on fundamentals, competitiveness, and building a team first culture.
Tyler Swinburnson - Pitching Coach
Coach Tyler Swinburnson was a standout multi-sport athlete at Blaine High School, and went on to play at Olympic College and Oregon State University, where he earned Academic All-American honors and was selected as an Arizona Collegiate Sumer League All-star. He was later drafted by the Cleveland organization, continuing his playing career at the pro level. Swinburnson has spent more than a decade coaching and mentoring young athletes with a strong focus on fundamentals, competitiveness, and developing a team-first mindset. He is passionate about helping student-athletes grow, both on and off the field wile building confidence, discipline, and accountability through sport. He also brings a background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where he holds a brown belt and has spent years coaching and mentoring students in the sport. His experience in both baseball and martial arts help shape his coaching philosophy centered on discipline, resilience, and continuous improvement. Swinburnson previously played alongside Beaverton high school head coach Vazquez during their collegiate baseball careers, creating a strong connection and shared vision for developing players and building a competitive program. Outside of coaching, Swinburnson is a certified residential Real Estate appraiser and small business owner. He is also the proud father of two sons, Cooper (22) and Jesse (19).
Gavin Nakamura - Assistant Coach
Coach Gavin Nakamura brings over 15 years of baseball coaching experience. After his days as a player, he began his coaching career at his alma mater, Waialua High School on the North Shore of Oahu. He then served as Head Coach at AIA Athletics for three years and Hood Athletics for five years. Most recently he spent the past four years as the Assistant/Infield Coach at Aloha High School. Known for helping kids on and off the field, Nakamura has dedicated countless hours to mentoring athletes, emphasizing fundamentals, hard work, and a love for the game.
Josh Wight - Assistant Coach
Coach Josh Wight brings a lifelong love of baseball and passion for mentorship to the program. With a background in leadership and training, Josh is committed to helping student-athletes develop discipline, teamwork, confidence, and resilience both on and off the field. Previous to this role, Josh was the President and a Coach for the Beaverton JBO youth program. Outside of baseball, Josh enjoys gaming, playing golf with his dad and son, and watching his 2 girls compete in Lacrosse and Cheer.
